Born in Spain, Tucho received a British education, culminating with a degree in law. After working for Ashurst Morris Crisp, UBS and Real Madrid, in 2006, Tucho realized his true calling lay not within the corporate world, but with creative pursuits. Thus, he settled in Shanghai, China, where a metamorphosis took place.

 

 

In Shanghai, he founded “TUCHO Company Ltd,” an investment company that specializes in the property refurbishment, bringing heritage properties back to life with creative and innovative living concepts. By the age of thirty, drawing from his experience with luxury hotels and his keen eye for detail, Tucho launched his first brand, CHAI Living.

 

 

CHAI Living is an innovative urban concept that combines the comfort, services, and style of a five-­‐star hotel with uniquely designed living spaces, authentic local life, and an appreciation for local cultural traditions. The brand opened its first project in Shanghai, China, in the Embankment Building, an Art Deco landmark. The heart of CHAI Living at the Embankment Building is the CHAI Living Residences: twenty uniquely designed, high-­‐end serviced residences designed with inspiration from elements of traditional Chinese culture.

 

 

Expanding beyond the Residences, on the ground floor of the Embankment Building, CHAI Living also consists of CHAI Living Lounge tapas and cocktail bar, and the CHAI Living Gallery, an art and design gallery, with plans for further projects in development. The brand aims to make the area into one of Shanghai’s most vibrant hotspots, while providing maximum convenience to residents. The fusion of sophisticated design, exceptional service, and local culture puts CHAI Living in a class of its own, bringing together a community of people with a shared passion for what CHAI Living represents: a unique and fulfilling experience, showcasing cultural happenings along with full lifestyle amenities for residents.

 

 

Beginning in 2011, Tucho began to develop his newest project, the Creative Ateliers: Working Spaces for Creative Minds, a series of offices, located in another Art Deco landmark, the 1933 Bank of Canton, in Shanghai’s historic Bund neighborhood. The offices provide functional and inspiring working environments in one of Shanghai’s most elegant neighborhoods.
